My husband Justin has a cousin in California whose adult daughter, Lauren, recently graduated from some amazing techie school in Manhattan (she is a super genius) and she moved to Dallas. She in young, fun, and works in the tech industry as a coding engineer. I think? I don’t speak techie, but that is what I gathered from our conversations. Anyway, she has a great job here and moved here without knowing anyone, except us of course. I was happy to help her get settled in her new apartment. She moved from Manhattan and was starting with all new furniture, so it was fun helping her shop and decorate. Her style is modern with a slight boho flair. I really like how it turned out. We did the main living space to begin. Next we will do her bedroom and office.

Some details about the décor in her downtown chic apartment:

She wanted a collage of décor on her main living room wall. We used some photos she cherished, along with a modern canvas, a variety of frames, and a few additional hangings. It was about adding a unique Boho style that was personalized by her life.

She had already purchased the ottoman so I suggested using that as a coffee table as well by adding a large tray. We then added some candles and her magazines to make it feel like home.

She likes elephants and it adds to that Boho feel, so this was a great find on a shopping excursion.

She wanted blue tones in the main living space along with a little bit of fuchsia, so added those colors with the accent pillows, picture frames, and throw, and area rug.

The glass art on her dinette set was such a nice find while we were out shopping together one Sunday after church. We hit up about 6 stores in just a few hours, but found plenty of small décor and accent pieces that were just her style! This one just happens to be one of my favorites.

I found the canvas artwork while out shopping one day. I texted her a pic to see if she wanted me to get it for her. It matched the colors in her area rug perfectly and it had the fuchsia color she wanted in the room as well. It was a perfect match and find!

We added décor to this space that matched her style and the colors she selected. We placed picture frames with candles on multiple shelves, a sculpted modern vase on the top shelf, a silver modern L on another shelf, a pink boho elephant sculture below the L, and a glass blue artistic plate on a plate stand on another shelf. The key to making a TV center look good is to place well thought out décor on each shelf. Not allowing the space to get too cluttered. Less is better. She has a lot of books, so those did end up on some bottom shelves for now. When we complete the office, they will most likely be moved into that room.

Lauren purchased several live plants for the apartment. I love having plants and greenery inside a home. Whenever possible I like live the best, which is what she selected. Not all of us are able to keep plants alive though, so faux is ok as well. As long as the faux is of really good quality and it looks authentic.

Her apartment is coming together! I am loving the feel of it and it is definitely her style! I am looking forward to helping with some of the other spaces in her apartment as well.
