Today was the Tabletops Charity event at the Hilton in Southlake to support the Gatehouse in Grapevine, TX. I helped organize a group of ladies from my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group to attend together. Last year my friend Candice organized the group. It was a fun event, supporting such a worthy cause, so I knew I wanted a group of ladies to attend together this year as well. Last year I wore a fascinator and several of my MOPS friends said that we should all try to wear them next year. We made it happen! Most of the ladies from our our MOPS group wore fascinators today. My sweet friend Lori hosted a group of us at her home before the event. I snapped a few pics before we headed to the charity luncheon.
The gatehouse is a wonderful non profit organization women that helps women transitioning out of high risk situations such as domestic violence. It isn’t just a temporary crisis shelter. It is housing for women and their children on a longer basis so they can get back on their feet, gather some skills to survive better after leaving the facility, and are provided a great support structure while living at the Gatehouse. This facility can now house up to 95 families! Here is a link to their website and some additional information below: https://www.gatehousegrapevine.com
The Tabletops event is an charity luncheon with silent auction and raffles to support the Gatehouse. Last year they raised over $83,000 at this event! The event was even bigger and better this year, so I imagine they raised even more money for a great cause.
It is called Tabletops because different businesses or groups each sponsor a table. The tables are incredibly decorated by each of these groups. It makes the event very festive, creatively decorated, and is a feast for the eyes. I didn’t bring my camera into the event but I did take some photos with my IPhone.
My favorite table was the one that featured our Mayor’s Shoes! She is known for her shoe collection. She keeps the community updated on local happenings via Facebook and you will often get great views of our community and her shoes in the pic. She recently wore ice cream cone shoes in one of her postings and those were at the event on display too. It was a creative and fun table! Our mayor does such a great job, it was so nice to see her as a part of this fabulous event today. Here are some pics of her table.
What a wonderful post! Thanks for sharing about TableTops! I’m so glad everyone enjoyed the day! I know I did even though I’m just now recovered:) I remember running to the front for something and saw a big group of pretty ladies in hats! Must have been you guys!
We did raise more money than last year – I can safely say about $115,000! I was hoping to raise more than $125,000 to fund the playground and keep our “Party Fund” to host monthly birthday parties for the kiddos so if anyone is looking to make an end of year 100% tax deductible donation – please go to https://thegatehouse.ejoinme.org/tabletops2016after
It was a HUGE goal set by me and not our committee so I know it was reach but we are so close! I am meeting with the committee and paying final bills and hope to announce an official number soon!
Please like our Facebook page “TableTops Southlake” for pictures, updates and announcements about next years event! I am so proud of the growth and community support in 3 short years and so thankful you and your friends have made it an annual tradition. I look forward to meeting you next year!
Sincerely,
Kari Mawn
It was a wonderful, well planned event for a great charity! I plan to organize a group to attend next year as well.
