We went on a preschool field trip to the Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville, TX last week. It is a smaller zoo located just north of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. It took us an an hour to get there from Southlake. It was worth the trip, especially since we had the zoo mostly to ourselves. Even though it is a smaller zoo they have giraffes, zebras, bears, jungle cats, and more. It is very inexpensive to visit this zoo, with prices being $5 for children and $7 for adults. Below is more information from the zoo’s website: http://www.gainesville.tx.us/108/Frank-Buck-Zoo

There is a train that goes around the Frank Buck Zoo property. It is about a 15 minute ride and you can buy tickets when you get to the zoo. The kids loved this part of the zoo visit. Charlie said it was the best part for him!

Another highlight of the zoo property is the gigantic outdoor playground area. It is a wood structure that seems to go on forever. It was a community sponsored and built playground. It is one of the best playgrounds I have ever seen! Make sure you save some time for the kids to play on the playground when you go for your visit to the zoo. The playground is free!
