I wanted a little girl of my own for many years. Probably all the way back to when I was a little girl and my first doll was a baby girl. I wanted sons too, as I wanted a house full of kids; But my dreams of having a little girl were more elaborate. These plans involved things like dressing her up in frilly outfits, lots of hair bows, pink everything, someday prom planning, shopping for wedding dresses, and so much more. Another one of my dreams and visions of mothering a daughter involved matching outfits. Mommy and daughter matching outfits.

I love dressing in matching outfits with Brielle. You want to know who likes it even more than me?? Brielle!! To my lovely surprise (be still my heart), she wants to look just like her Mommy. I have never experienced such adoration until having a daughter of my own. She is so sweet! Of course, as a 3 year old she has her threenager moments daily, but the sweetest of my Brielle’s heart and her authentic, transparent love make up for all tantrums combined.

We started matching more often this past summer. Much thanks to Lilly Pultizer!! Now my daughter can also spot a Lilly dress in any crowd as well! What did she want to wear on her first day of school? A Lilly dress of course and she wanted me to match her. We went on two beach vacations this summer and we had matching outfits for every day of each trip. We don’t do that at home on a normal basis, but it was fun to do for a week. It makes the time more special, memorable, and bonding. I also coordinate the boys’ outfits to match us, but it isn’t quite the same as wearing the same exact Lilly dresses. We have other coordinating outfits than aren’t Lilly Pulitizer, but I don’t know of another designer who makes nicer mommy and daughter outfits that perfectly match than Lilly.image

I will continue matching us, as it is nice way to bond and so far she loves it! Someday she will object I am sure, so until that time I will enjoy the motherly bliss and bond of matching with Brielle.
