I have wanted to write about this topic for some time, but I didn’t know what to say other than “parents should be praying for their children’s future spouses”. I pray for my children and their future spouses on a regular basis. My friend Julie is also passionate about this topic and shared this on her Facebook page last month; which she gave me permission to share-
Some specific ways you can pray for your children and their future spouse are the following:
1. That they remain as pure as possible to save themselves for one another, so they don’t bring lots of baggage, heartache, and hang ups into the relationship.
2. They both come to know Jesus as their Savior and they strive to have a personal relationship and walk with Christ.
3. Their relationships with their family- that they are healthy, supportive, loving, and accepting. Pray that they have great relationships with their family members- because those relationships will have an affect on their marriage. They will also use the lessons they learned in their own families within their future marriage and family (when they have children someday).
4. God’s protection and favor over them as they grow and mature.
