In recent months I saw these beautiful scarves on Facebook and wanted them instantly! Colorful, plush, blanket scarves with scriptures sewn onto each one.
They are called Scripture Scarves.
While scrolling though the Scripture Scarves Facebook feed I discover that they would be at Merry Market here in Southlake!! I set out on market day to buy some of those scarves! I purchased a plaid scripture blanket, which I was able to use at our last football game of the season while I sat on the sidelines bundled up to coach the cheerleaders. I also bought a scripture scarf as a gift for a dear friend. I love all of the scripture scarves!! They are so soft, cozy, and stylish! And they carry powerful scripture sewn onto each scarf. Such a beautiful idea that Michelle had and brought to fruition!
Here is a message from Michelle, the own and creator of Scripture Scarves:
Welcome to Scripture Scarves (formerly known as meshach by michelle matthews)! My name is Michelle, and fashion has been my passion for many years. I’ll always remember Mom taking me and my sister to the fabric store when we were little girls. We each got to pick out fabric and patterns, and my mom would make us special outfits from them. In college, I learned to sew while earning my bachelor’s in Fashion Merchandising. After school, I didn’t use those skills again for years. However, my passion was reignited when my sister learned she was having a little girl. At that point my husband and I had two boys, whom I love very much, but the anticipation of a baby niece made me sentimental. I started making baby blankets to relive some of the great sewing memories my mom, sister and I share. Soon, my friends started asking me if they could buy my blankets. The next thing I knew, meshach by michelle matthews was born.
In the book of Daniel, God saved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzer. The name Michelle is a female derivative of Meshach, and for the last several years my husband’s friend has called me Meshach as a nickname. At the time I was starting my business, that same friend was in a terrible car accident. Miraculously, God spared his life. His weeks in the hospital prompted a lot of prayer in the Matthews household just as I was beginning to make baby blankets, and it inspired me to start adding cross appliques and scripture patches to my creations. After expanding and contracting my offerings over the next couple of years, I ultimately decided to simplify and focus on creating scarves with scripture patches. That prompted the name change of my company to Scripture Scarves. I am thrilled to use my passion to create items that I hope will comfort you physically and spiritually–Wrap Yourself in Truth!
