We celebrated Brielle’s 7th Birthday this weekend. She wanted a unicorn theme for her party. I booked the venue over 6 months in advance. The party planning itself didn’t begin until the two weeks leading up to the party. I pulled it off thanks to Amazon and ideas from Pinterest. Below are photos and links so you can pull off your own unicorn themed party.

Brielle’s Unicorn Themed 7th Birthday

The Unicorn Backdrop is 3′ by 5′ and lightweight, so it is easy to hang: https://amzn.to/2FqPUWd

The flowers around the backdrop come in a pack of 6. I purchased two packs. They need to be assembled in advance, since they take a few minutes to put together each of the flowers. https://amzn.to/2TOHviy

The banner above the backdrop was a blank banner purchased from Hobby Lobby. I personalized it using my Silhouette. It took under and hour to print and apply the vinyl to the banner and I am definitely a newbie when it comes to using the Silhouette. The balloons were simple pink, light purple, and white balloons that were purchased through the venue. More on the venue below, in case you live in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area and are looking for a great party venue for kids.

The unicorn cups, plates, and napkins are from Amazon. The cups are reusable cups that the girls were able to keep after the party and can be found here: https://amzn.to/2TOKXcR

I purchased treat bags that matched the plates, cups, and napkins. I filled them with candy as a favor for each of the kids attending the party. https://amzn.to/2FoSP1t

I purchased additional pink cups, plates, and silverware from Walmart. You can find these item in their party section. They have a variety of solid colors available.

The inflatable unicorn was hit. Brielle even brought girls into the party room during their playtime just to show them the unicorn. I did remember to bring my electric blower (the one we use to inflate blow up mattresses) and it came in handy. This is the link for the unicorn: https://amzn.to/2SUlPRS

We already owned the white tablecloths. I purchased them from this website: https://www.linentablecloth.com/

I like cloth for table coverings because they give an event a more finished look and are reusable. White tablecloths are particularly practical because they match everything and they can be bleached- perfect for childrens’ parties! For the centerpieces, I kept it simple with pink floral centerpieces. I purchased the pink sparkly runner for the main table on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2M6vNNh

The table skirting was also from Amazon. It is measured according the perimeter of the table. This means that if your table is a 6 foot table (6 feet long and 3 feet wide) Then you will need 12 feet of table skirting to cover the front and 2 sides if you are pushing the table against a wall. If you want to cover all 4 sides of the table then you will need 18 feet of skirting. I purchased two of the table skirtings to cover the sides and front and had some to spare. Better to have more than not enough and come up short. https://amzn.to/2Ci6cN4

The table skirting is fabric, so it can be reused. It came with self adhesive Velcro to place on the edges of the table to adhere the skirting. The skirting itself has the soft part of the Velcro sewn around the entire top edge. This makes it very easy to use the skirting. The Velcro is very strong and I had no problems keeping the skirt in place (which was one of my concerns in the back of my mind). I didn’t even use half of the Velcro for the table. That means we have more to use for next time! I also know that I can purchase more of the self adhesive Velcro at Hobby Lobby when we do run out.

We purchased drawstring backpacks for each of the girls as a party favor: https://amzn.to/2VRD1cs

We had a few boys attend the party and I thought these particular boys would not want the unicorn bags, so I purchased solid colored drawstring bags for them. https://amzn.to/2AIqzTw

Food for the party was kid friendly. I ordered a catering 100 piece chicken tender package from Chicken Express. I placed the order about 5 days before the party and they had it ready on time, hot and fresh. They packaged it in a large aluminum tray which I kept hot using an electric heating tray at the party (I ordered that on eBay a few years back, as they don’t sell them anymore, which is too bad because I use ours for every party we throw).

I also prepared mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids and purchased other foods including animal crackers, fruit trays, vegetable trays, pretzels, and apple slices (which were served with a creamy fruit dip). I will share that super easy and yummy recipe on the blog soon. I served pink lemonade for the kids. I had a cooler of soda and waters for parents. I purchased pink and gold biodegradable straws for the lemonade: https://amzn.to/2M6yTkn

I used unicorn picks to hold the mini sandwiches together. They can also be used for the tops of cupcakes. https://amzn.to/2D6NYQ6

One of my favorite components of the party…the unicorn headbands! Each girl was given a unicorn headband to wear at the party and to take home as a favor. Yes, I like to give lots of favors at our parties. I love saying thank you for coming to our party through favors! I ordered a variety of headbands from different suppliers on Amazon. That way the girls could choose their own and not each one was exactly the same. https://amzn.to/2Ck94sR

And another variety pack of the headbands I purchased for the party: https://amzn.to/2snog3L

For our birthday girl I purchased a special unicorn headband that had multicolored tulle as a mane. https://amzn.to/2SSr6JM

We had a few short notice RSVPs. Not a problem! I remembered that Walmart sold unicorn headbands. I picked up a few extra the day before the party.

The unicorn cake and cookies were a hit at the party! I was so thankful for Cinco Cookies and her ability to do our order. My mommy brain actually forgot about the cake. I remembered exactly one week before the party. In order to get a custom cake I recommend placing your order at least a month in advance with any vendor. These specialty cakes and cookies take planning and time for the vendor. Sometimes they have to order supplies to make the items as well. Don’t be like me and remember a week before the party that you need a cake. Order in advance if you want something special! Cinco cookies was amazing! I actually found her through a Moms Southlake of Facebook group. Another mom had asked about where to buy a custom cake for her child’s party. Someone shared Cinco Cookies and photos of a unicorn cake she had gotten from Cinco Cookies. I was so impressed with the cake in the photos that I messaged her and she was thankfully able to do a two tiered cake and cookies for us! I sent her photo of our backdrop so she was able to match the colors of our party too. She did a wonderful job and I highly recommend her! She is located in Roanoke, Texas. You can find Cinco Cookies through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cincocookies/

The venue for the party was Peek n Play in Grapevine, TX. We have been there for playdates and other birthday parties in the past. I asked Brielle six months before her party where she wanted to have it and she was emphatic that she wanted it at this venue and only this venue. It is a fabulous place for parties. It does get booked up in advance, so book well in advance of your party. The staff was very helpful with set up and clean up of the party too. For which I was extremely thankful, since we only had a half an hour for set up. The kids loved playing at this venue and the party room is perfect for food and cake time! I had games planned, but we never played them because the kids were having such a good time playing! They needed zero entertainment because the venue itself is so much fun!
