We had out of town guests the past few days. My brother Justin and Sister-in-Law Katsuree came to visit. They just recently relocated to the Houston area for Justin’s job. They made the drive to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to visit us. While they were in town we made plans to take the Grapevine train into the Stockyards on Saturday. It was a lot of fun! The kids especially loved the train. It’s about an hour and 15 minute ride from Grapevine to the Stockyards. You have a few hours at the Stockyards once you arrive by train. Then after the cattle drive at 4:00 you get back on the train and head back to Grapevine. Here is the website for the train: http://tickets.grapevineticketline.com/event/tickets-3922729

Here are the photos from our train ride on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad.

Once we arrived at the Stockyards we did some shopping, the kids rode ponies, we went on a mini-train ride, the kids had photos taken with a Longhorn, we watched the cattle drive, and walked around the historic Stockyards.

There is so much to do there, you could spend a weekend there and never run out of things to do and see. They have a cowboy hall of fame, Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show (every weekend), lots of great restaurants (Cattlemen’s is my favorite), and plenty of shops too! They have special events all throughout the year so check their site to see if something fun is going on before you visit: http://www.fortworthstockyards.org.

They have cattle drives right down the main drag in the historic Stockyards. Make sure you don’t miss it when you visit. It happens daily at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm.
