I have been wanting a new camera for at least three years now. Our camera was an SLR Canon that worked great, but I wanted something that made my photos look professional, without personally having any professional photography skills. After searching for several years I learned that most cameras that take progressional level photos indeed require professional level expertise to use the equipment. I am not that proficient. I know how to use sport mode, portrait mode, the timer, and the flash. Yep, that’s about it. Maybe a little more, but I probably wouldn’t be able to explain, as I learned to use different features through trial and error and don’t even know the terminologies. My dream for the past three years was to find a camera that could take professional looking photos without me having to know about aperture, depth of field, focal length, etc. Not that I am adverse to learning these things. Ok, maybe I just don’t feel like learning them right now and I want a camera that can do all the work, make my photos look great, and I don’t need to know how or why.

It happened. I found that magical camera. I knew it after taking a handful of photos using this camera. I used the camera to take photos of my niece. It was not my camera, but I knew I wanted that same camera. My sister in law showed me how to zoom in using my fingers, just like my Iphone. Everything can be adjusted using touch screen. If I wanted the camera to focus on something specific I could tap that image on the screen and it would focus on that and blur the rest. How amazing is that?? It was as easy to use as my SLR. In fact, maybe even easier since it is touch screen.

After visiting my brother and sister-in-law’s home I researched this magical camera and then purchased it on Amazon just a few days later. It is amazing!!!

Below is the Amazon link to the exact camera and package I bought. Costco has the same camera, but you get a lot more in the Amazon package for the same price. The camera is the Canon EOS 80D. The package came with two lenses, extra batteries, tripod, filters, and so much more. Lots of stuff I will have to figure out how to use, but the camera itself is easy to use. Especially with the SLR experience I had in the past, the transition to this camera was easy. I am moving up in my photography skills, or at least the gear and I will let the camera do the work. ???? https://amzn.to/2D26Orc

I am so excited to take photos of the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and Mount Rushmore this summer using this new camera. Happy Mother’s Day to me. Oh and probably Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to me too. It wasn’t cheap, but in my mind so worth it. Considering some professional lenses cost the same as this entire camera package, I was happy with the price. Especially with the results it provides. Below are some photos I took of my niece with this camera. She was a few days old. We simply draped a blanket over a bean bag chair near a window to get natural light. It was a blanket my Aunt Joy gave me when Brielle was born. ❤️ We literally spent 15, maybe 20 minutes max for the entire photo session. There were so many good photos to chose from, but I will share a few of my favorites.

I gave the crown as a Christmas gift to her before she was born.
Is she not the most precious, beautiful baby??

As a side note- we did use a specific lens for these photos. My brother found reviews online that said this lens is terrific for newborn photos. I would have to agree! I purchased this lens as well, to use for portraits with my own children. It is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens. At $118 on Amazon I thought the price was superb. https://amzn.to/2G0P2Ft

P.S. I have not received any compensation for this posting, although I do have Amazon affiliate links in this article. I share because I love this camera and I bet there are others who have been on the hunt for an amazing camera too.
